What is the King’s Birthday?
The King’s Birthday is a public holiday observed across most of Australia (excluding WA and QLD) in honour of the reigning monarch. While King Charles III’s actual birthday is in November, the holiday is celebrated on the second Monday in June as a long-standing tradition dating back to the days of King George III.
This day also marks the announcement of the King’s Birthday Honours List, recognising Australians who’ve made outstanding contributions to their communities.
